THE OBAMA/POUGNET POLICY OF APPEASEMENT FAILS, IRAN CONTINUES TO EXPAND NUCLEAR CAPABILITIES

Palm Desert, CA – Leading up to his address at the United Nations General Assembly, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke at a breakfast meeting yesterday morning in New York City with members of the press. The hostile leader of Iran discussed the Country’s nuclear capabilities and threatened war if the United States or Israel attacked any of their nuclear facilities.   While most Americans believe strong foreign policy is the key to controlling aggressive dictators like President Ahmadinejad, liberals like Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet and President Barack Obama want to engage in diplomacy, dialogue, and appeasement.  In reaction to President Ahmadinejad’s increasingly violent threats and the obvious failure of the Administration’s weak foreign policy, Ryan Mahoney, Campaign Manager for Congresswoman Bono Mack (CA-45), issued the following statements:

“It is clear that the Obama/Pougnet approach to foreign policy has failed.  Iran continues to enhance their nuclear capabilities, endangering our Allies and threatening our National Security.

“Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet agrees with President Obama that we should engage in direct negotiations with hostile foreign leaders like President Ahmadinejad.  Pougnet and Obama are wrong.  We must enact strong foreign policy that protects the region from nuclear proliferation and punishes hostile regimes.

“Pougnet’s naivety in foreign policy is dangerous and we can’t trust him to protect us.”
