Bono Mack: The Death of the Estate Tax is Long Overdue
News Articles
Palm Springs, CA -Congresswoman Bono Mack issued the following statements today regarding the legislative proposals in the U.S. House of Representatives to extend the current estate tax, which is set to expire in January of 2010.
“The estate tax, better known as the “death tax”, is a complete drain on the U.S. economy. It destroys jobs, hurts small business, and punishes hard working Americans who work hard and invest well. The death of the estate tax is long overdue.
“H.R.4154 is bad for America, especially during these tough economic times. I joined with fellow conservatives today to vote against this bill, knowing that fewer taxes and less regulation are sound economic policies that will bring our economy out of this recession.
“Defeating H.R. 4144 in the House is a small but significant victory. We will not let the tax and spend liberals in Washington tarnish the American Dream. We will not let the death tax or any other tax slow the economic recovery of this great nation and we will not let the government profit from the death of any American.”
Earlier this year,Congresswoman Bono Mack co-sponsored H.R. 205, The Death Tax Repeal Act. This legislation would permanently repeal the federal estate and gift taxes.
