Palm Springs, CA – In remembrance of the 68th Anniversary of Japan’s unwarranted and unexpected attacks on the Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Oahu Island, Hawaii, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) issued today the following statements:

“Today, we remember the brave men and woman who lost their lives on that infamous December morning in Hawaii. We also acknowledge and commend the World War II veterans who fought on our behalf in the years following that tragic event. Their courage and devotion should be ever present in our minds. We enjoy freedom today because of their sacrifice years ago.

“As we reflect on the attack of Pearl Harbor, we, as a Nation, must also recommit to supporting our courageous troops serving on the battlefield today. Their dedication to protecting our country, our families, and our freedom in Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, should never be taken for granted.

“Join me today in remembering our veterans, especially those who fought for us in World War II. These men and woman are true American heroes, and we owe a debt of gratitude for their sacrifice.”
